In Home Stone Featured Project
BLUFF POINT BEAUTY
By: Bobbi Nock of Reiter Interiors and Design, with Project Partner Parris Bozeman
Bobbi and Parris worked closely with the homeowners to transform several areas in their Severna Park waterfront estate. The updates were made keeping their love of animals, impressive collection of carved waterfowl and enjoyment of entertaining in mind. The featured tile project included transforming entertaining areas, kitchen, master suite, and bathroom.
Working closely with the homeowner, Bobbi and her team knew that they wanted to create a space in the home worthy of extravagant entertaining. They transformed a former office into a fabulous social area adjacent to a billiard room painted in a European full gloss with mirrored accents. The feature element that was the driving force for this design was the waterfall marble bar which complements the overall masculine aesthetic of this space.
The note of entertaining was further sounded in the kitchen with the introduction of an apron front soapstone sink used to keep drinks on ice. The cabinets were updated by paint while the new expansive quartzite island created a focal point for socializing.
In the homeowner’s bedroom suite, Bobbi and her team balanced the masculine touch of the soapstone fireplace surround with lighter color wall trim and lots of beautifuly painted woodwork, thereby maintaining the contrast of rugged materials tempered by elegant treatments.
The vision for the son’s bathroom was driven by the desire to create a timeless look, but with a young, contemporary feel. The floors are a traditional marble in Nero Marquina, but the large-scale marble floor creates a modern look that is brought together by the stacked glass in the shower. Parris further cemented this timeless look by combining dark cabinetry with light walls. The use of traditional materials in contemporary ways creates a dynamic partnership that is echoed throughout the house.
